About Moe Jamil

Moe Jamil has over two decades of experience as a teacher, attorney, and community advocate. At the San Francisco City Attorney's Office*, he has tirelessly advocated for the best interests of the people of San Francisco, protecting their tax dollars, fighting in court to safeguard the city treasury and working to make sure the city government, its leaders and its employees understand what they can and cannot do under the San Francisco City Charter. He is the co-lead of the office's First Generation Professionals Affinity Group and has served as the Co-Chair of the California County Counsels Association Taxation Section.

 

Moe sits on the board of Russian Hill Neighbors and has previously served on the boards of San Francisco Heritage and the Union Square Foundation. He is the former Chair of the Middle Polk Neighborhood Association and Co-founder of the Van Ness Corridor Neighborhoods Council comprising of ten neighborhood organizations along Van Ness Avenue focused on improving outcomes relating to planning, land use, public safety and transportation.

Moe holds a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley where he participated in a year-abroad program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong studying Chinese Politics, History, and Cantonese. He served as an economics, history, and forensics teacher in San Jose, California while working his way through Santa Clara University School of Law to earn his JD degree.

 

Over the years, Moe has taught several courses at Santa Clara University School of Law and also at DeAnza College. He began his legal career as Deputy Attorney General for the California Attorney General's Office where he prosecuted criminal appeals in felony cases on behalf of the People of the State of California and appeared regularly in the California Court of Appeal.

 

Prior to joining the City Attorney's Office, Moe served as a Deputy County Counsel for the County of Sonoma where he represented the Public Conservator, the Mental Health Department, the County Sheriff and the County Assessor in a wide variety of matters.

 

On August 24, 2023, Moe declared his candidacy for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors District 3 for the election to be held November 5, 2024. Supervisor Aaron Peskin is term limited out of this seat and has endorsed Moe for Supervisor. Moe shares his unwavering commitment to protect and preserve the cherished neighborhoods of District 3.
